Happy New Year - 2009

We decided to have a little fun this New Year's. The baby couldn't deal with the loud noises of fireworks, so we did something fun for Andrew this year. We made smores on the back patio using our fire pit. It was so fun. Andrew loves smores and the outdoors - he loved his special New Year's Eve. Since he and my parents had an early flight out on the 1st, we celebrated on east coast time.

Christmas 2008

This Christmas was so special. Not only were we able to celebrate with our new daughter, but we also knew it would be our last Christmas in San Diego. My Mom had been with us since Dec 9th, helping Neil and I with the baby, meals, laundry and other various chores that needed to be done (you ROCK, MOM!) and my Dad and Andrew flew in on Dec 24th. Neil's parents, Ron and Sue flew in from upstate NY on the 23rd. We were all there to celebrate such a special time in our lives.

Andrew got the Nintendo DS Lite that he has been begging for and Neil and I got a wonderful gift of a daughter, so close to Christmas. We are truly blessed to have each other and such a wonderful family. Except, who would put that hat on my baby's head?!?! Looks like we need to start a fire with it...

Dec 11th: Mia's first "bath" @ home

I gave Mia her first "bath" at home. Boy, did she HATE it! She cried and screamed the whole time. Once she was all clean, she feel asleep. All that crying makes you so tired!

Dec 9th: Going home

Mia and I were discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, Dec 9th. My Mom arrived that morning, so she was able to be with us and help me with the baby for three weeks. Thanks, Mom!

Dec 8, 2008: Mia arrives!

My water broke on Sunday around 2 pm, so Neil and I headed to Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego and I was admitted around 7 pm. I tried to get some sleep, however with all the staff coming in to check on you every hour, that really isn't possible. So, at around 11 pm I got my drugs and went from 2 cm dilated to 10 in less than 2 hours. Mia was born at 5:27 am on Monday morning - 8 days early; just like Andrew.

Mia weighed 8 lbs, 5 oz and was 21 1/2" long. She has beautiful blue eyes, lots of hair and big hands. Neil and I are delighted with her. We are so blessed to have a healthy baby girl. Welcome to the world, little one!
















Once in our room we can relax. There are no well-baby nurseries here, so Mia was with us the whole time. It was good, however difficult. It's been 10 years since I've taken care of a newborn and it feels like I'm starting from the beginning.








































Neil gave Mia her first bath and got her dressed. He did so well for a new Dad and I'm so proud of him. He was with me the whole time throughout my labor and delivery, despite his dislike of needles and blood. He watched Mia being delivered and it was so amazing to him. He is so happy that he was able to be there and watch his little girl come into the world.

Boys will be boys

Milo and Bosley are hilarious. They play all the time - chasing after each other, fighting over the same toys and always trying to get our attention over the other. Here are a few shots of them, just being boys.

Tired pregnant woman

So tired! During the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy I've been so tired. Everyday after work, I'd lay down on the loveseat and take a little nap. Well, everyday Milo and Bosley would also take a nap with me. They are such Mama's boys. I woke up to Neil taking some pictures of us.
